Laparoscopic Surgery
Laparoscopic Surgery
Conventional laparoscopic surgical technique involves insertion of ports through small cuts made on the abdomen from which the surgeon inserts a camera and operating instruments to perform surgery like prostatectomy. The benefit of laparoscopic surgery is that it is minimally invasive, has less blood loss and recovery after the surgery is quick compared to traditional open surgery.
However, compared with the Robot, laparoscopic surgery can be tedious to perform, with less powerful camera systems and difficult to learn. Whilst it is possible to produce good results using laparoscopic surgery in a very experienced surgeon, the surgical robot provides for an unparalleled ergonomics that is second to none.
