Consultation
During your consultation, you will be seen by the surgeon who will assess and examine your prostate to check for evidence of cancer. You will require a PSA blood test which is a test specific to the prostate and helps to identify men who potentially have prostate cancer.
Diagnosis
if your PSA is raised or there are other cancer suspicions, then you will require a multiparametric MRI scan. This will show if there are suspicious lesions in your prostate that would require biopsy.
MRI Fusion Biopsy
If your MRI scan is abnormal, then you would require Fusion biopsy. A fusion biopsy makes it easy to detect abnormalities, which enables the doctor to take samples using the biopsy needle with greater precision. This is done via your perineum instead of the old way of biopsy through your rectum. It means that it is more precise with less risk of infection. Your result would usually take two weeks to be ready.
